The Bibble 5 interface is divided into the following sections:

Menu Bar

This is at the top of the application, and contains the following Menus.  It is used to access common functions and features that apply to the whole Bibble 5 application (like configuring Preferences, Opening images, viewing the online Help files, unlocking Bibble 5, etc.

Browse Panel

The Browse Panel is where you go to get images into and out of Bibble 5.  On the left of the screen, this panel has tabs for your Library view, File System View, and Output.

The Browse Panel can be hidden so that more room is available for viewing your images.  Just click the left arrow at the top of the Browse Panel tabs to hide or show this Panel

Tool Tab Panel

On the right side of the application, this panel contains all of the image adjustment tools, organized into separate tool tabs.  Each tab has one or more panels, and any of these panels can be "Pinned" to make that panel visible regardless of what tab you are viewing.

The Tool Tab Panel can be hidden so that more room is available for viewing your images.  Just click the left arrow at the top of the Tool Tab Panel tabs to hide or show this Panel.

Thumbnail Panel

At the top of the main Bibble window, this panel shows thumbnails for the folder, container, search or browse category selected with the Browse Panel.  All the images in the folder are initially visible in the Thumbnail Panel, but you can filter the thumbnail panel to show only images that match a specific set of criteria.  This panel contains the following toolbars:

Sort & Filter Toolbar

The Sort & Filter Toolbar contains the following buttons, from left to right:

Sort Chooser - Shows and allows changing the current thumbnail sort order.  The example is sorted by Version name.
Sort Direction - Shows and allows changing of the current sort direction.  The example is sorted in Ascending order.
Filter - Opens or closed the Filter tool - used to limit which thumbnails from the current container are shown in the thumbnail panel

 

Metadata Toolbars

The Metadata Toolbars are three separate but very similar toolbars, and include the following buttons, from left to right:

Rating - Sets the Star Rating of all selected Versions.
Color Label - Sets the Color Label of all selected Versions.
Pick - Sets all selected Versions to 'Pick' status.
Reject - Sets all selected Versions to Reject' status.

NOTE: these indicators will show the value of the Active Version, but will apply changes made by this toolbar to all selected versions in Single Image mode, but only to the Active Version in Multi-Image mode

 

Thumbnail Zoom Toolbar

The Thumbnail Zoom Toolbar contains a single slider to set the zoom level for the Thumbnail Panel.

View Mode Toolbar

The View Mode Toolbar allows you to quickly switch between various window layouts and viewing modes.  From left to right, these icons will:

Toggle Full Screen Mode - Maximizes Bibble 5 and hides the top Window Title Bar.
Toggle Orientation - Switches between Landscape and Portrait layouts.
Image View Mode - Hides the Thumbnail Panel to make the Preview Panel as large as possible.
Standard Mode - Reveals both the Preview Panel and the Thumbnail Panel.
Thumbnail Mode - Hides the Preview Panel to allow quick browsing through many thumbnails.
Soft Proof Toggle - Enables or disables Soft Proofing, and allows the selection of a Soft Proof profile

Preview Panel

This is the main workspace in Bibble 5.  It shows a preview image for the currently selected thumbnail or thumbnails, and allows you to see the image adjustments that you make to your image.   You can zoom into or out of the selected images, and you can view one or two or many images at once.  This panel contains the following Toolbars:

Layer Toolbar

The Layer Toolbar has the following controls, from left to right:

Layers - Opens or Closes the Layer Manager.
Current Layer Selector - shows or changes the current layer.
Add - adds a new layer, and changes to that new layer.
Region Cursor Selection - shows or changes the current cursor tool to a region cursor, including: Circle, Polygon, Curve, Brush.

 

Bibble Toolbar

The Bibble Toolbar contains the following buttons, from left to right:

Pan & Zoom Cursor - Allows you to pan and zoom a Preview image.  Simply click and drag to Pan, or hold CTRL (CMD on a Mac) while scrolling your mouse wheel to zoom.  You must be zoomed to a higher zoom that 'Fit' for Panning to have an effect.

Note: you can temporarily switch to the Pan & Zoom cursor by pressing the spacebar.

White Balance Dropper - After picking the white balance dropper, click in your image to set the white balance.  Click on a portion of your image that should be neutral in color to set the while balance.
Crop Cursor - Click to open the Cropping Window to see, change or apply a crop.
Straighten Cursor - After clicking the Straighten cursor, click and drag along a line in your image that should be either vertical or horizontal.
Region Cursors - Circle, Polygon, Curve, and Brush -  Allows you to create or edit Regions.  See the section on Selective Adjustments for more details.
Slideshow - Opens the Slideshow window.
Multi-View Toggle - Toggles the Preview Panel to show either a single (off) or multiple (on) Preview images if more than one thumbnail is selected.
Multi-View Lock - Toggles the locking of the Pan position and Zoom level of multiple preview images.  With this on (locked), zooming or panning one of the preview windows will also zoom all of the other preview windows as well.
Clipping Warning - Toggles the visual indication of portions of the image that are clipped (at least one channel above or below the clipping limits set in the Preferences Panel).

 

Zoom Toolbar

The Zoom Toolbar contains the following controls, from left to right:

1:1 Zoom Toggle - Toggles your Active Version's Preview window from the current zoom level to a 1:1 (or 100%) Zoom.
Fit Zoom Toggle -  Toggles your Active Version's Preview window from the current zoom level to Fit (zoomed out so the complete image fits in the current window).
Zoom Level indicator - Shows the smallest, current, and largest zoom levels.
Zoom Slider - Click and drag, or hover and roll your mouse wheel to zoom in or out.
Version Name - Shows the Version name for the Active Version.

The size of the Thumbnail Panel and Preview Panel can be adjusted by dragging the splitter between these two panels.

There are many more ways to optimize and customize the Bibble 5 interface.  These will be discussed in greater detail in a later section.
