Controlling Print Jobs & Page Breaks

When a print layout contains more that one image on a page - like a Contact Sheet - it is important to understand when Bibble 5 will begin printing, and how Bibble 5 controls page breaks.  These operations are controlled by the Continuous Printing checkbox on the Print Settings panel.

Continuous Printing On - Pro Only

When Continuous Printing is enabled, Bibble 5 will begin to process a print job as soon as enough images have been added to that Print Batch to fill a single page.  As additional images are added to the batch, more pages will be processed and sent to the printer as pages fill up.  If the page layout contains only one image, this means that sending a set of images to a Continuous Printing batch will process them immediately and send those pages to the printer.  If the print layout has multiple images on a single page, then the last page may not be auto-sent to the printer - because Bibble 5 will continue to wait for that page to be filled.  In order to print a partial page on a Continuous Printing batch, you must open the Print Settings window and click 'Print' in the lower right.

In this mode, it is important to configure and confirm the Printer, Page Settings, Additional Image Settings, DPI, and Layout are correct before sending images to the batch.  Incorrect settings can waste ink and paper.

This mode allows you to process a continuous stream of images as soon as they are added to the Print Batch.  This is very useful for Event Printing and other high-volume printing situations.

Continuous Printing Off

With Continuous Printing unchecked, Bibble 5 will queue all the images you send to that batch and will not begin printing until you open the Print Settings window and click 'Print' in the lower right.  This allows you to slowly choose all the images you want to print, review the pages to be printed, remove images or add additional images until you are content with the image selection and print layout.  When you are ready to send those images to the printer, click Print in the lower right corner of the Print Settings page.  This will open a dialog with Printer Settings specific for the printer you selected.  This is where you set options like paper type, print quality, and printer color management options.

When you click 'Print' and then accept the settings on the Printer Driver window, all the images that are listed in the Print Settings window at that time will be processed and printed, including any partial pages.  If you add additional images to that Print Batch, either while is it still printing or after it is done, these new images will not automatically print; rather, they will remain queued until you click Print again.

This mode allows you to process batches of images together, and will include a page break at the end of each batch for layouts with more that one image on a page.
